A large centre, set up for families and little ones

This is one of the largest bowling venues in Northern Ireland. Young children get bumpers and ball ramps so every roll reaches the pins, and balls start as light as 6lb. Shoe hire is included in the mix, from children's size 6 right up to adult size 15, and non-marking trainers are fine to wear too. Up to six people share a lane, and groups of 15 or more get a discounted rate at selected times. Booking is by the half hour or hour rather than by the game, so you know how long you have got.

The story

About the venue

Dundonald International Ice Bowl opened in 1986 and is operated by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council. It pairs Northern Ireland's only public Olympic-size ice rink with a large bowling centre, the Indiana Land play area and cafes, making it one of the region's best-known family leisure complexes.

A major redevelopment of the site began in 2024 and is expected to complete in 2027, bringing a new Olympic-size ice rink, a rebuilt bowling alley and a gym, so check ahead for any changes to facilities and lane numbers while works are under way.
