Two games, one east-Belfast arena

Laser combat is the all-ages game here. The guns fire a harmless infra-red beam with a long range and no pain on a hit, so it suits families and younger players, indoors from age 7 and outdoors from age 11. Airsoft is the grittier option for ages 12 and up, firing 6mm pellets that you genuinely feel, with the protective gear and weapon supplied. The indoor Urban Assault course fills the basement of the Ice Bowl, giving you a maze of rooms and cover for close-quarters scenarios. Each session comes with your gun, full camouflage gear and a rules briefing before you start.

The story

About the venue

Battlefield Sports operates from the basement of the Dundonald International Ice Bowl on the eastern edge of Belfast, billed as a leading spot in Northern Ireland for laser combat. Its indoor Urban Assault course uses the full lower floor of the complex, giving game rooms and hiding spaces for close-quarters play whatever the weather, with airsoft offered alongside for older players.
