Take the helm of your own cruiser

You drive the boat yourself on this one. The fleet runs from a 3/5 berth Fisherman Five class up to the larger 4/6 berth Pride of Erne, each fully equipped with galley, cooker, fridge, heating, toilet and shower. A 10ft dinghy comes included so you can get ashore at quiet islands. From the marina you can cruise Lough Erne and link through to the Shannon-Erne and Shannon waterways, mooring where you please. It suits families who want a slower, do-it-yourself holiday on the water, though as you skipper the boat yourself it is better for older children and adults than for very young toddlers.

The story

About the trip

Carrybridge Boat Company has been established on the Erne for just over 40 years and is a family-run business midway on the Erne system. Alongside its self-drive hire fleet it runs a 100+ berth marina in sheltered central water between Upper and Lower Lough Erne, with full facilities for private boat owners.

The company is also a marine services base, offering engine servicing, lift-out storage and a breakdown and recovery service across the Erne and Shannon-Erne waterways, with a mechanic on call during the boating season.
