Drive your own boat across Lough Erne

You are the skipper here. After a full tuition session on arrival you take the helm of a day boat and explore Lower Lough Erne at your own pace. The boats carry up to six or eight people and have an enclosed front cabin with interior steering, so a sudden shower will not end your day. Cruise past wooded islands, historic castles and peaceful gardens, and you may see herons, swans and other lough wildlife as you go, though nothing on the water is ever guaranteed. It suits families and groups who fancy a hands-on day rather than sitting back on a guided cruise. Accessibility on the boats is not confirmed, so check with the marina before you book if anyone in your group has mobility needs.

The story

About the trip

Manor House Marine is a family-run business that has been on Lough Erne for more than 50 years, based at a marina at Killadeas with berths, a chandlery and a gift shop. Alongside the day boats they sell and charter motor cruisers and run longer self-drive boating holidays across the Erne and the Shannon.

Lower Lough Erne is known for its scattered islands, old castles and quiet, sheltered water, which makes it a forgiving place to learn the ropes and take a boat out for the first time.
