A guided cruise out to Devenish Island

The MV Kestrel is a 48-seat traditional waterbus, fully glazed so you're sheltered, with indoor and outdoor seating, a licensed bar and toilets on board. The headline trip sails out to Devenish Island, with live onboard commentary as you pass Enniskillen Castle and Portora Lock. At Devenish you can go ashore to the 6th-century monastic site, with its round tower, abbey and high cross. Keep an eye on the water and you may see a kingfisher, though wildlife is never guaranteed. It suits families well, and the crew can assist with bringing a wheelchair aboard, but note there are steps so access is limited.

The story

About the trip

Erne Tours is one of Enniskillen's established Lough Erne boat operators, running the 48-seater MV Kestrel from the Round 'O' Jetty at Brook Park. The Devenish Island cruise is the best-known trip, pairing live commentary on the water with a chance to step ashore at one of Ireland's finest early monastic sites.

Alongside the Kestrel, the company runs a smaller boat, the Kingfisher, for private and small-group outings, plus sunset and dinner cruises through the season.
