The racing here is short-oval door-to-door action on a tarmac circuit. Across a meeting you can see multiple classes such as 2.0 Hot Rods, Stock Rods, Lightning Rods, Thunder Rods, Superstox and 1400 Stock Cars, with junior Ninja Karts bringing younger drivers onto the track. Some classes are tight and skilful, others are full contact, and banger events add the crash-and-bang spectacle that crowds love. Big dates draw championship fields, including British and Irish title meetings. It suits all ages to spectate, there is no height limit and no licence needed because you are watching, not driving.

About the venue

Aghadowey Oval is a tarmac short-oval circuit near Coleraine, promoted by DMC Race Promotions, which has run short oval racing in Northern Ireland since 2003 under five-times World Champion Davy McCall. Alongside its sister track at Tullyroan, it is one of the homes of Ulster oval racing, hosting hot rods, stock cars, rods and bangers and drawing British and Irish championship meetings to the calendar.
