A revived recipe on the Roogagh River

The distillery's story starts with Angus Scott, who developed a secret recipe in the 1780s, and a present-day family member who set out to make it again. First whisky was produced in 2020, with the spirit maturing on site and the water drawn from the Roogagh River that flows behind the premises. An early bottle reportedly sold at auction for £11,000. The story

About Scott's Irish Whisky

Scott's Irish Whisky was founded on a family recipe attributed to Angus Scott in the 1780s, revived more than two centuries later by a remaining member of the Scott family. The distillery is in Garrison, a village at the western edge of Lough Melvin in Co. Fermanagh, with the Roogagh River running behind the buildings and supplying its water.

The first whisky was made in 2020, and an early bottle reportedly sold at auction for £11,000, among the highest prices paid for a bottle in Europe at the time. The main distillery building was completed in August 2020, and the family has continued to expand the site with new production buildings since.

The long-term ambition is a destination distillery, with plans described for a visitor centre, whisky school and a riverside walk into Garrison. As of the latest update the distillery remains under construction and is not yet open to the public, so anyone hoping to visit should contact it directly before travelling.
