Taste spirits made on the spot

The standard distillery tour runs about 90 minutes and starts with a Wild Atlantic gin or vodka and tonic. A distiller walks you through traditional production, from the still room to bottling and labelling. You hear how the botanicals include kelp and dillisk hand-harvested from the Atlantic coast. The IslandMen whiskey tour adds a tasting of single malt from Cask 001 alongside the blended Irish whiskey.

The story

About Wild Atlantic Distillery

Wild Atlantic Distillery was founded in 2019 by brothers-in-law Brian Ash and Jim Nash, opening to visitors in 2020 with a mission to bring whiskey distilling back to the North West of Ireland. Its IslandMen 1921 single malt was the first whiskey legally distilled in the region in over a century.

The distillery makes award-winning whiskey, gin and vodka, using botanicals that include kelp and dillisk hand-harvested from the Atlantic coast. Set at Aghyaran near the Sperrin Mountains and 15 miles from the north-western beaches, it has grown into a small visitor attraction and exporter, sending its whiskey as far as North America and Canada.
