Grain to glass in 45 minutes

The Tour & Tasting takes you behind the bar to see how the beer is made, from the brewing equipment to the locally sourced ingredients and the story of the brewery. It runs about 45 minutes and ends with roughly six taster beers covering the range, from IPAs and wheat beers to stouts, plus a pint of your choice. You can add the award-winning WCB burger and fries as a food pairing. Tours go on Fridays, Saturdays and occasional Sundays at 2pm, with midweek sessions at 4pm, and you book online ahead of time. Groups of more than ten should email the brewery directly to arrange a slot.

Good to know before you go:

Walled City Brewery runs ticketed experiences beyond the standard tour, including a Beer Masterclass where you taste across styles and brew your own micro-beer, and an Earhart Gin School where you distil a personalised gin. Late openings, tastings and seasonal events come and go through the year, so check the brewery's own channels close to your visit.

The story

About Walled City Brewery

Walled City Brewery was opened by James and Louise Huey in May 2015, in the restored military barracks on Ebrington Square at the city end of the Peace Bridge. James, the head brewer, had spent time at Guinness before coming home to set up his own brewhouse, brewing fresh, unfiltered, small-batch beer on site.

The brewery built a name as both a restaurant and a brewhouse, picking up awards for its food and joining the LegenDerry Food Network. Its taproom pours its own beers, named with local humour, and the Tour & Tasting and masterclass experiences turned the brewery into a destination in its own right rather than just a place to eat.
