Beer brewed in the Walled City

The range covers the styles craft drinkers look for: a hop-forward IPA, an easy Northern Pale Ale, a malty Irish Red, a smooth Oatmeal Stout and a seasonal Saison. Batches are small, so the line-up shifts through the year. Because Rough Brothers brews collaborations and exclusive house beers for individual restaurants and bars, some of what they make never reaches a shelf — you taste it only at the venue it was made for. Ask bar staff in Derry what's on if you want to try the local stuff.

The story

About Rough Brothers

Rough Brothers is a small-batch craft brewery based in Derry/Londonderry, brewing in the area of the historic Walled City. It runs modern microbrewery equipment to produce handmade beers across IPA, pale ale, red ale, stout and saison styles, working from a unit on the Altnagelvin Industrial Estate.

Much of the brewery's reputation rests on collaboration. They brew bespoke and exclusive house beers for local hospitality businesses — restaurants, hotels and bars in Derry and Belfast — alongside their own range. The beer is distributed through trade across Derry, Belfast, Coleraine and Limavady.

Note: the 'Dopey Dick' name associated with Derry craft beer belongs to a separate Derry brewery and its Guildhall Taproom, not to Rough Brothers — worth knowing if you're tracking down a specific local pint.
