The pools

The main pool is a six-lane, 25m by 12.5m tank with a semi-movable floor, so the depth adjusts to suit lane swimming, general sessions or lessons. A separate teaching pool handles beginners and aqua aerobics. A PoolPod hoist gives independent, comfortable access to the water for anyone who needs it.

The story

A stadium-side swim

Olympia was rebuilt inside the west stand of Windsor Park, which makes it one of the more unusual places to take a dip in Belfast. You're swimming lengths in the shadow of the national football stadium, a short walk from the city centre and the train.

It won't give the kids flumes, and that's worth saying up front. What it does give you is a clean, modern, central pool that's easy to reach, easy to book, and free for the under-fives, which makes it a reliable everyday swim rather than a big splash-park day.
