Football, not putters - a real 18-hole course

Footgolf is its own sport, not crazy golf with a twist. You play with a football and your feet, kicking down each hole toward an oversized cup and counting your shots, lowest total wins. This is a mature parkland course designed for footgolf, with natural obstacles you would expect on a golf course: undulations, water features, bunkers, rough and various trees. It is par 70 across 18 holes and described as a good test for all standards of player. Because there are no clubs to swing, it works for all ages and abilities, so little ones can play the same course as the grown-ups. The setting is peaceful, with views over Belfast Lough and Carnmoney Hill.

The story

About the course

Newtownabbey Footgolf was Northern Ireland's first 18-hole footgolf course, laid out as a mature parkland layout on Cullyburn Road in Newtownabbey. It is a purpose-designed footgolf course rather than a converted putting green, running to par 70 with golf-style obstacles and views over Belfast Lough and Carnmoney Hill.
