The driving: indoor karting for ages 8 and up

You drive the karts yourself around an indoor circuit, with junior and adult karts so the whole family can take part. The minimum age is 8 for the junior karts, with a minimum height of 135cm. No experience is necessary, so first-timers are welcome. Electronic timing records accurate speeds and lap times, which turns a casual drive into a proper race against your group. There is also an adult kart fitted with hand controls, suitable for wheelchair users or drivers with limited leg strength, with a minimum age of 16 for that kart, and the premises has wheelchair access.

The story

About the venue

Need 4 Speed bills itself as Northern Ireland's premier indoor karting location, based in warehousing on Kilbride Road at Doagh, near Ballyclare and about 20 minutes from Belfast. It has been operating since at least 2014, running pre-booked sessions with exclusive use of the track for each group.

The circuit uses electronic timing for accurate lap times and speeds, runs junior and adult kart fleets, and offers a hand-control kart for wheelchair users. It is a regular pick for birthdays, youth groups and corporate events.
