Plan your visit

Drink it where it's brewed

The draw here is freshness and access. At a taproom session you order beers made a few metres away, from pale ales and IPAs to limited specials. The brewers tend to be on hand, so you can ask what hops went into a pour or what they are working on next. It is the kind of straight-from-the-tank pint that bottle shops cannot match.

Good to know before you go:

Knockout's whole visitor offer is event-led: taproom sessions land on selected dates through the year, sometimes shared with other independent breweries and sometimes paired with food pop-ups. Follow the brewery's Facebook page for the next date, and check what else is on across Northern Ireland's craft beer scene.

The story

About Knockout

Knockout Brewing is an independent Belfast microbrewery based at Alanbrooke Park in the east of the city, turning out small-batch craft beer under boxing-themed names like Uppercut, Prizefighter and Rumble IPA.

Rather than running a permanent bar, the brewery has built its reputation through taproom events, including collaborations with other local independents such as Farmageddon, where the people who make the beer pour it and talk to drinkers directly. It sits within a lively wave of Northern Irish craft breweries that have grown the local scene over the past decade.
