A playground, then acres to burn off the rest

The play area is the draw for most families, with equipment that works for toddlers and bigger kids alike. When they have had their fill of the playground, the grassy mounds are made for rolling and racing, and the open pitches give them space most city parks cannot match. It is the combination that makes Cherryvale work — climb and slide, then run flat out. Picnic tables sit nearby so you can park yourself while they go.

The story

About the park

Cherryvale Playing Fields is a long-standing council green space off the Ravenhill Road in East Belfast, managed by Belfast City Council. Alongside the playground it carries football, Gaelic and rugby pitches that local clubs and teams book through the year.

The fields were upgraded by the council with improved pitches and facilities, including a changing pavilion. It remains a busy neighbourhood park, used daily by families, joggers and dog walkers.
