What you actually do up in the trees

You start with a harness fitting and a safety brief, then take on the course element by element. The high ropes sit up in the canopy with crossings, bridges and balance obstacles between platforms, and the combined passes add a climbing wall and a free-fall descender that drops you back to the ground on a controlled fan. Younger children who are not ready for the high course can do the low ropes from age 5 and 1m tall. The One Pass also includes the Black Bull Run alpine coaster, and Colin Glen runs Ireland's longest zip wire on separate packages. Allow around three hours for a full activity package; a single high ropes session is shorter.

The story

About this place

Colin Glen Forest Park is a woodland river glen on the southwest edge of Belfast, often called the city's 'Green Lung'. It sits below the Belfast Hills and is run by the Colin Glen Trust, a charity that has developed the glen for recreation over many years.

The high ropes and climbing course are part of the park's adventure offer, branded SKYTrek, which the Trust has grown alongside Ireland's longest zip wire and an alpine coaster. The activities are designed to bring families and groups up into the trees with proper harnesses and supervision.

Beyond the booked adventures, the glen itself has walking trails, a river and woodland to explore, plus a cafe and parking, making it a base for a longer day in west Belfast.
