The pools and the fun stuff

The 50-metre pool is a flexible design that can be split for lessons, lanes and public swimming, and the separate 17-metre training pool takes the swimming lessons. The kids' leisure area is where families head, with three water slides to keep children busy. On top of the everyday swim, the Beast Aqua inflatable and the Splash Sessions turn the pool into a proper play session — both booked online, so grab a slot before you go.

The story

Built by the lakes

South Lake opened as the flagship of the ABC council's leisure offer, and it shows. A full 50-metre pool is rare in Northern Ireland, and putting a kids' leisure area and inflatable sessions alongside it means the same building works for a serious swimmer doing lengths and a five-year-old going down a slide for the first time.

Sitting right on Craigavon Lakes, it also plants you next to walks, watersports and open water if you want to make a longer day of it once you're dried off.
