About the venue
Lower Cove sits about halfway up the Annalong Valley in the heart of the Mourne Mountains, a group of steep granite buttresses long regarded as among the steepest and best rock in the range. Its near-100 routes, broad grade spread and quick-drying south-facing rock have made it one of the most popular and well-developed crags in the Mournes.
The crag is documented in the Mourne Mountains rock-climbing guidebook, which covers more than 26 Mourne crags and close to 1,000 trad routes across the range.
