Pedal, scoot or paddle around the island town

The hydrobike is the signature ride: a stable water-bike you pedal across the lough, easy enough for first-timers and relaxed enough to just take in the views (you can even bring the dog along). The eBoards are electric water scooters, wide and reversible, listed as suitable for ages 8 to 85 and simple to steer. Beyond those, a Family Pass covers hydrobiking, katakanu, kayak, canoeing and SUP, so a family can mix it up over a few days rather than committing to one activity. Most water activities start from 8 years old. As with any open-water outing, basic swimming ability and being comfortable in water make sense — check buoyancy aids and what is provided with the operator when you book.

The story

About the operator

Erne Adventures is based on the Sligo Road in Enniskillen, on Lough Erne beside the only island town in Ireland. It offers self-hire hydrobikes and electric eBoards alongside katakanu, kayak, canoe and SUP, plus day-boat hire and guided pike fishing trips, with a Family Pass that bundles several water activities across multiple days.

Its best-known feature is the 'Hydrobike by Lights' experience, an after-dark pedal around the lit-up town run in the autumn and winter months.
