The pools

There are three individual pool areas. A six-lane main pool and an associated minor pool both have adjustable floors and specialist access equipment, so depths flex to suit lessons, families and lane swimmers. The third is a splash pool fitted with play equipment for young children and toddlers, giving the smallest visitors a safe, shallow place of their own. It's also Northern Ireland's first leisure centre to put its pools on the first floor.

The pools run public swims and lessons through the week, and with soft play, an outdoor adventure zone and party rooms on site there's plenty on for family days and birthdays. Check the operator's timetable before you go.

The story

A whole day in one place

Most leisure centres do one thing. Ards Blair Mayne tries to do everything. Swim in the morning, soft play or the outdoor adventure zone after lunch, and the skate park or bike course for the older ones, all on one site.

For the youngest, the splash pool with its play equipment is the gentle way in, while the adjustable floors in the two lane pools mean lessons and family swims can share the water safely. It's built to keep a mixed-age family busy from open to close.
