Three paintball sites and a softer option for the kids

Paintball is played outdoors across three different sites on the mountainside, so there is variety in the terrain and scenarios as you move through the day. On arrival every player gets camouflage overalls, a safety mask and a Tippmann 98 marker, with marshals running each game and walking newcomers through the masks and markers first. For younger groups the low-impact paintball is the one to ask about: the markers fire at roughly a third of regular speed, which makes it suited to kids from around age 8 while still feeling like the real thing. Regular paintball suits older children, teens and adults, so check the minimum age that applies to your group when you book. The same site also offers bubble soccer and clay pigeon shooting (clays carry a 16+ age limit), which makes it easy to mix activities for a party.

The story

About the venue

Watchtower Adventures is a family-run activity centre set on the side of Faughill Mountain near Jonesborough, just inside Co. Armagh on the south of the county. The elevated site looks out over Camlough Lake, Slieve Gullion, Turf Mountain and the Mourne Mountains, and sits only minutes from Newry and Dundalk.

It has built a strong local reputation for paintball played across three separate sites, alongside low-impact paintball for kids, bubble soccer and clay pigeon shooting, and it is a regular pick for birthday parties, stag and hen groups and corporate days.
