The water: an inflatable assault course on a lake

The course is a floating run of icebergs, slides, swirly bridges and wipeout balls spread across open freshwater. The Beast is the headline, a tall floating slide that launches you out before you splash into the lake. The minimum age is 6, and this is the firm rule a parent needs to know: every participant must be able to swim 25 metres unaided and be confident swimming from the jetty over to the park. A buoyancy aid is provided and worn at all times, and a wetsuit comes with the session. It genuinely suits confident swimmers and thrill-seekers, ages 6 through adult, rather than little ones who can't yet swim.

Good to know before you go:

Outdoor aqua parks open seasonally and book up fast in summer, and times and prices change year to year, so check their own pages before you go. The Lake runs the aqua park roughly May to September with Puddle Park in July and August, plus paddlesports and group sessions.

About the venue

The Lake Kilrea is an outdoor floating water park on a spring-fed lake near Kilrea in County Londonderry, about 30 minutes from Portrush and under an hour from Belfast and Derry. It was upgraded for 2025 and expanded for 2026 to a roughly 80,000 sq ft course across more than 11 acres of freshwater, marketed as Ireland's largest, with The Beast billed as the world's tallest floating slide of its kind.
