Nerve Cinema

The cinema runs a curated programme of independent, international and classic titles through the year, with Q&A screenings alongside standard runs. Tickets have been listed at £7 plus booking fee. The room is properly kitted out, with an award-winning digital cinema projector and a Dolby CP950 sound processor driving an eight-channel amplifier, so this is not a compromise screening. Showtimes go up on the what's-on section rather than running to a fixed weekly pattern.

The story

A social enterprise, not a commercial cinema

The Nerve Centre runs as a social economy enterprise rather than a straight commercial venue, and that explains the shape of the place. It is why the cinema ticket is £7 and the workshop is often free.

The centre works from two office bases and delivers locally and internationally. What you see on Magazine Street is the public face of a much larger education and production operation.
