About this place
Lurgaboy is a family-run outdoor pursuits centre in the County Armagh countryside, on a roughly 35-acre site on the Gosford Road near Markethill. It was set up in 2004 by Armagh mountaineer Richard Dougan and his partner Arlene Robertson.
Richard had led a Northern Ireland expedition to Mount Everest in 2003, and the trip inspired him to build a place at home where young people and adults could test themselves outdoors. The business grew with his family involved, including his sister Rachel, who shares his love of the hills.
The team's stated aim is to use the outdoors to build confidence and self-esteem and break down barriers, running activity days for families, schools, youth groups and corporate teams.
