Better facilities than most sea saunas

Groomsport is the more equipped of the two HotBox spots. There are public toilets and an outdoor shower on site, plus a water fountain, which is more than you get at most beach saunas. There is also a small buffer zone at the sauna you can use for changing, though turning up already in your swimwear saves time.

Good to know before you go:

Both shared and private sessions run at Groomsport, and groups over six can email to arrange something bigger. The same operator delivers a sauna tent to your own location and takes a mobile sauna to festivals and events with at least two months' notice.

The story

The newer HotBox

HotBox built its name at Benone on the Causeway Coast, then opened this second spot at Groomsport harbour on the east coast. Same wood-fired sauna, same 5-to-15-minute rounds and dips, different water entirely.

Where Benone is wide open Atlantic, Groomsport is sheltered harbour and a short hop from the city. If you live in or near Belfast, this is the one you can do before lunch.
