Sea caves, stacks and cliffs you can only reach by kayak

On a guided tour you paddle out from Ballintoy harbour along the foot of the Causeway Coast cliffs, into sea caves and around stacks, with stretches near the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge on the longer routes. No kayaking experience is needed — a local guide leads the whole way and handles safety. There are shorter taster and family paddles suited to children alongside longer tours aimed at adults, so the right option depends on your group's age and confidence. The same coast also has coasteering sessions (rock scrambling, adventure swimming and cliff jumps building up to a big finale jump) and snorkelling tours if you want something other than a kayak. Wetsuits, kayaks and safety kit are provided.

The story

About the operator

Ballintoy harbour sits on the B15 coast road on the Causeway Coast, a few miles west of Ballycastle, and is well known as a Game of Thrones filming location as well as a sea-kayak launch point. Guided tours from here run out below the cliffs to caves and stacks and towards the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, with experienced local guides and all equipment supplied.

Operators on this stretch advertise beginner-friendly, fully guided tours with no experience needed, plus coasteering sessions that run roughly March to November. Activities are seasonal and depend on conditions, so dates, age rules and prices are best confirmed direct.
