What you can do on the island

Pick from the water or stay on dry land. On Lough Erne you can paddle Canadian canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, or join a guided paddle tour around the island town and out along Fermanagh's rivers and lakes. On the island itself there's archery and a climbing wall, and the operator also runs bushcraft and other outdoor experiences. Activities are graded from beginner to advanced, so first-timers and families are welcome alongside more confident paddlers. Equipment and instruction from qualified staff are provided, and basic water confidence is expected for anything on the water.

The story

About the operator

The Lakeland Canoe Centre opened on Castle Island in 1991, becoming a long-running hub for paddling and outdoor activity in the middle of Enniskillen, and a point on the Erne and Shannon blueway canoe trails.

The site is now run by Blue Green Yonder, a Fermanagh outdoor adventure provider offering canoeing, kayaking, SUP, guided tours, archery, a climbing wall and bushcraft, with qualified instructors and accredited training in paddlesport, water safety and first aid.
