Upstairs is the room

The ground floor is the busy standing bar. The upstairs is smaller, darker and where the live performances and DJs are set up, surrounded by quirky artwork, religious iconography and music memorabilia collected over years. It has the feel of somebody's front room that got out of hand. Capacity is modest, so a popular night fills quickly and there is no queue-jumping your way in.

Live music and DJ nights through the week The small upstairs room, cluttered and characterful Over 50 rums behind the bar Bar snacks rather than full meals Dog friendly Open from midday until late, seven days
Good to know before you go:

Live sets and DJ nights run through the week, and the bar gets busier still during Cathedral Quarter festival weeks when the whole district programmes music at once.

The story

About The Spaniard

Skipper Street is one of the narrow lanes on the edge of the Cathedral Quarter, and the Spaniard is the door you would walk past if nobody told you. Inside it is tight, loud and covered floor to ceiling in religious statuary, odd artwork and music memorabilia. Upstairs is where the good nights happen.
