What you can do here

This is a surf school you book a lesson with, run by WSA-accredited coaches who are also qualified beach lifeguards. You can take a beginner surf lesson, work up through improver and advanced sessions, or join a stand-up paddleboard session. There are dedicated kids' lessons for ages 6-14 and kids' surf camps during the Easter, July and August holidays. Wetsuit and board are provided, so you only need swimwear and a towel. The school also makes special provisions for surfers with disabilities, including custom-made boards. Basic swimming ability and reasonable fitness are needed for the water.

The story

About the operator

Long Line Surf School is an independent surf school established in 2012 on the North Coast of Northern Ireland, running on Benone Strand with SUP sessions on the River Roe. Its instructors are WSA (Water Skills Academy) accredited surf and SUP coaches who also hold beach lifeguard qualifications, with experience coaching and competing on the Irish surf scene.

The school is recognised as a disability surf-lesson provider in Northern Ireland, with special provisions and custom-made boards for a range of additional needs.
