The whole point of AWOL is choice. You assemble a day from a long activity list - paintball, archery, laser combat, canoeing and kayaking, mountain biking, abseiling, river crossing, raft building, the assault course, orienteering, survival skills and the 75-metre Total Wipeout mud slide. Younger families usually lean on the lower-impact options like archery, laser combat, canoeing and the mud slide, while older kids and teens can take on paintball and the bigger challenges. Qualified instructors run each session and provide the safety gear. How long you stay is up to you - a half day of two or three activities, or a longer multi-activity event.

About this place

AWOL Outdoor Adventure sits in the Blackwater Valley on the Tyrone/Monaghan border, on the banks of the river Blackwater in north County Monaghan near Emyvale.
