What's on for families

The heart of the place is the 198-seat auditorium, where you'll find children's shows, music concerts, local theatre and a pantomime at Christmas. The venue has a strong record of encouraging young people in performing arts, so a lot of what's staged involves acting, singing and dancing by local talent. If your child wants to take part rather than just watch, there are youth drama classes, dance and Irish dancing, plus a summer academy. The venue also runs relaxed performances for selected shows. Programming runs in seasons through the year, so check their listings for what's coming up and for prices.

The story

About the venue

The Craic Theatre & Arts Centre opened in 1996 and is based at the Coalisland Enterprise Centre on Dungannon Road, part of the town's old linen industry heritage. The 198-seat auditorium has tiered seating, and the building also holds a dance studio and a rehearsal room used by local groups.

The centre stages productions by local theatre companies, music concerts, pantomimes and children's shows, and is home to a youth theatre alongside dance and drama classes. It has built a reputation for encouraging young performers from across the Coalisland and Mid Ulster area.
