Around 40 stores, a 10-screen Omniplex and a big everything-under-one-roof shop, sitting right on Newry's old canal basin minutes from the border — the easy plan when the forecast gives up.

  • What you'll do — work through the anchors: Marks & Spencer, Next, H&M, River Island, Boots, Argos and a full Sainsbury's, then finish with a film at the 10-screen Omniplex with its OmniplexMAXX big screen. The Albert Basin and Newry Greenway are at the door if you want air between shops.
  • How long — a comfortable 2–3 hours; add lunch and a film and it's easily half a day indoors.
  • Cost & parkingfree to browse, seven days a week. There are over 1,000 parking spaces on site; parking is charged, and rates change — check the current tariff on the day, and ask about any parking deals with the cinema or big stores.
  • Come ready — comfy shoes, reusable bags, and mind the hours: Sunday doesn't open until 1pm, and the late nights to 9pm run Wednesday to Friday.
  • Food — honest steer: it's coffee-and-casual rather than a big restaurant floor right now — an M&S Café and food hall, Ground Espresso, a Deli Lites sandwich bar and the Bravo Live Cuisine buffet, plus Ben & Jerry's at the cinema. A new central food court has been reported as in the works.
  • When — it earns its keep on a wet day. Weekday mornings are quietest; weekends bring the crowds and, often, family events on the centre's calendar.
  • Expect a leaner line-up than the glory days. Around 40 stores trade today after some big-name exits (Debenhams among them), and the centre changed hands in 2026 with fresh investment reported going in — check the online directory first if you're coming for one particular shop.
Plan your visit

Just walk in — it's free, seven days a week

No tickets, no booking — the doors are open every day of the week. Centre hours are 9am–6pm Monday, Tuesday and Saturday, 9am–9pm Wednesday to Friday, and 1pm–6pm Sunday — individual stores, the gym and the cinema keep their own times, and the Omniplex runs on into the evening. Park in one of the 1,000+ spaces on site (charges apply — confirm the current tariff on the day) and everything is under one roof from there. Hours shift on bank holidays and around Christmas, so check the centre's website before a special trip.

A centre in the middle of a fresh start:

The Quays had a rocky spell — its owner went into administration in March 2026 before new funding brought it back out that May, and plans for a new central food court have been reported since. The doors have stayed open throughout, but some units are empty and things are changing — check the centre's website or ring 028 3025 6000 before a special trip for one particular store.

Before you set off

What time does it open on Sunday?
1pm — worth knowing before you set off. It runs to 6pm on Sundays, and the late nights to 9pm are Wednesday to Friday.

Is the cinema still open?
Yes — the 10-screen Omniplex is trading, OmniplexMAXX screen and all, with listings running daily. It keeps longer hours than the shops, so a late film works.

Is it good with a pram?
Yes — it's flat, all indoors and easy to wheel around, with parent-and-child parking bays reported near the doors. Baby-changing facilities are reported on site — ask at the centre for the nearest one.
