Over 40 things to climb, slide and swing on

Older kids head straight for the 10.6m Duo Pyramid Tower with its two coloured tube slides, then the twin 30m cableways to race down. There are rope bridges, climbing walls, fireman's poles and a five-point swing zone with a trapeze seat. Younger ones get a castle-themed area with a coordination trail, plus slides and a multi-sensory zone built for smaller hands. A natural-play corner adds timber balance beams, stepping logs and boulders to scramble over. Because it is an inclusive park, there is a wheelchair-accessible roundabout and swing, a low-level lookout tower, and a Quiet Hour every Sunday 9.30 to 10.30am for children who need a calmer start.

The story

About the park

The park is named after Mo Mowlam, the Labour Northern Ireland Secretary whose work helped deliver the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. It was created in her memory and opened in 2012 within the grounds of the Stormont Estate.

In 2019 it reopened after an £800,000 investment, rebuilt as a fully inclusive play park with more than 40 pieces of equipment so children of all abilities can play together. It is run as part of the wider Stormont Estate, home to Parliament Buildings and acres of public parkland on the eastern edge of Belfast.
