About this place
The Marble Arch Caves are carved into limestone laid down over 340 million years ago on the slopes of Cuilcagh Mountain. Three underground rivers feed the system, making it the most active river show-cave in Ireland and the UK, and the caves take their name from the natural Marble Arch where the river emerges back into daylight.
The site is run by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and is a key part of the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark, which spans the border country of Fermanagh and Cavan. The visitor centre, cafe and exhibition sit above ground, with guided tours leading you down into the cave river below.
