Ireland's biggest inflatable aqua park, floating right on a lake just south of Belfast — wetsuit on, buoyancy aid clipped, and go bounce, climb, slide and belly-flop your way round a giant obstacle course on the water.

  • What you'll do — take on the huge floating obstacle course: climbing walls, a big slide tower, trampolines, monkey bars, balance beams and jump platforms, all bobbing on the lake. Expect to fall in a lot — that's the whole point.
  • The aqua park — sessions run 50 minutes on the water, with a wetsuit and buoyancy aid provided (wetsuit hire is a small extra if you need one). There's a smaller, gentler junior water zone for the younger ones, plus a land Adventure Island and lakeside glamping if you want to make more of it.
  • How long — the session itself is 50 minutes; with kit-up, briefing and drying off, allow a good half-day for the trip.
  • Cost — an Aqua Park session is around £25 a head and bundle passes are cheaper per person; prices shift with season and package, so check the current rate when you book.
  • When — the aqua park is a summer thing, running through the warmer months and closing for winter (Halloween and Christmas events run separately). Sun makes it magic; a bright day out on the water is one of the best days of the summer.
  • Pre-booked timed sessions only. You book a slot in advance on letsgohydro.com — don't just turn up, and check the day's times before you travel.
  • Age, height and swimming rules apply. The Aqua Park is age 7+ and at least 110cm tall, everyone must be able to swim 50m unassisted, and children 8 and under need an adult in the water (one adult per three children) — check the full rules before you book.
Plan your visit

Book your session before you set off

The Aqua Park runs on pre-booked timed sessions through the summer season — you pick a slot online, arrive early to get kitted up, take a safety briefing, then get 50 minutes on the water. A wetsuit and buoyancy aid are provided as part of your session (a wetsuit can be hired for a small charge if you'd rather not bring your own). The park closes for the winter, with separate seasonal events at Halloween and Christmas. Prices vary with the season, the package and how many of you are going, so confirm the current rate and the day's session times on letsgohydro.com before you travel. Beyond the main obstacle course there's a gentler junior water zone for younger swimmers, a land-based Adventure Island, wakeboarding and paddle sports, and lakeside glamping pods if you want to turn it into an overnight.

What to wear & bring

  • 🩱Swimwear under the wetsuitYou'll be given a wetsuit and buoyancy aid, so come with swimwear on underneath and get straight into it.
  • 🧴A towel & dry clothesYou'll be soaked through, so pack a towel and a full change of dry clothes for after — and a bag for the wet stuff.
  • 🧢A hat & water on bright daysIt's out in the open on the water, with little shade — a hat and a drink keep the sun a joy rather than a bother.
  • 👟Old trainers or water shoes (optional)Some folk like a pair of water shoes or old trainers for grip on the inflatables — bare feet are fine too.

The story

A whole aqua park, floating on a Belfast lake

Let's Go Hydro sits on the old Knockbracken reservoir at Carryduff, a short run south of Belfast city centre, where a quiet stretch of water has been turned into one of Ireland's biggest outdoor playgrounds. The star of the show is the aqua park — a sprawling raft of blue-and-white inflatables tethered across the lake, all climbing walls, slides, trampolines, monkey bars and jump towers, with green hills rising behind it.

It opened in 2018 as a purpose-built watersports resort, and it's grown a good deal since. Alongside the big obstacle course there's a gentler junior water zone for smaller swimmers, a land-based Adventure Island, wakeboarding and paddle sports on the lake, and a glampsite of lakeside pods — floating cabins, a boat house and more — for anyone who wants to stay the night rather than just splash for the afternoon.

What makes it work is simple: you pull on a wetsuit, clip on a buoyancy aid, and spend your session falling off things into the water and laughing about it. It's a summer place, weather-led and out in the open, so it lives and dies by a good bright day — and on a good bright day, an afternoon out on that lake is one of the best of the whole summer. It leaves everyone tired, soaked and grinning on the drive home.
