A short trip on the UK's biggest lake

The boat trips run on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from April to October, leaving the shore jetty from around 1.30pm and roughly every half hour through the afternoon. They're skippered by the marina's trained staff, so you sit back and take in Kinnego Bay and the wide open water of Lough Neagh, with the possibility of getting out towards Coney Island. The trips are short and easy-going, which makes them a relaxed option for families with younger children. No booking is needed for the boat trips. The marina is described as wheelchair-friendly, though it's worth ringing ahead to check what access on and off the boat is like for your group.

The story

About the trip

Kinnego Marina is the largest marina on Lough Neagh and home to Northern Ireland's oldest sailing club, sitting on the corner of the Oxford Island National Nature Reserve near Lurgan. Alongside fully sheltered berths and a public slipway, its trained staff run short weekend boat trips out onto the lough through the summer season.

The trips give visitors an easy way to get out onto the UK's largest inland waterway, taking in Kinnego Bay and the chance to see Coney Island, with the marina's wider site of cafe, play park, gym, hides and nature trails making it a popular family spot on the shores of Lough Neagh.
