A pirate course built around the ship

This was putter mini golf - you get a club and ball and play 18 holes - rather than footgolf or pitch and putt. The whole layout ran on a pirate theme, with a pirate ship at its heart plus cannons, waterfalls, tunnels and water jumps to navigate hole to hole. The obstacles gave it more character than a flat course, and the difficulty sat in the gentle family range rather than serious challenge. That made it suitable for younger children up through adults, with everyone playing the same route at their own pace. A prize hole and a course record board added a bit of friendly competition.
