A play park toddlers to teens won't want to leave

This is a destination play park, not a couple of swings. Climbing frames, climbing nets, trampolines, roundabouts, springers and swings, with a trim trail alongside for running off the last of the energy. Much of the equipment is designed to be accessible for children with disabilities, so more of the group can join in. Toddlers have lower kit to themselves while teens take on the nets and trampolines. It is the kind of place where you say five more minutes three times.

The story

About the park

Gortin Glen opened in 1967 and was the first forest park in Northern Ireland to be created in a coniferous woodland. It covers around 1,534 hectares at the western gateway to the Sperrin mountains, six miles north of Omagh.

The forest was first planted purely for timber, and the conifers still cover hundreds of hectares. Over the years it has grown into a recreation park, with the scenic forest drive, waymarked trails and a resident herd of Japanese sika deer. The International Appalachian Trail and the Ulster Way both pass through part of the forest.
