Learn to sail through the summer holidays

The club's sailing school is the main way non-members get on the water here. Courses run through July and August and cover children's and youth sailing from age 8 and up, adult sailing courses, powerboat training and RYA-accredited courses, with tuition for all abilities. The club sails a mixed dinghy fleet including Toppers, RS Feva, RS Quest, GP14, Laser and RS400. Basic comfort and confidence in the water is sensible for any sailing course, so check swimming-ability requirements when you book. The wider club running of races and cruiser sailing is a membership activity rather than a drop-in day out.

The story

About the operator

Cushendall Sailing & Boating Club was founded in 1961 and sits on the north-east Antrim coast, with views across Red Bay toward the Mull of Kintyre. It shares a large slip and pier with the Red Bay RNLI station, just outside Cushendall village on the Coast Road.

The club is RYA-affiliated and runs cruiser and dinghy racing through the season, alongside a sailing school during the summer holidays. The clubhouse was refurbished in 2015, adding a bar and function room with bay views.
