A working farm that puts everyone in the saddle
Crindle Stables sits in the farmland outside Limavady, tucked under the great flat-topped ridge of Binevenagh on the western edge of the Causeway Coast. It's a working family farm first, a riding school second — and that shows in the feel of the place. The horses and ponies are part of the farm, the yard is unfussy, and the welcome is warm whether you've ridden for years or never sat on a horse in your life.
What sets the yard apart is how many ways in there are. A first-timer can book a lesson and find their balance in the arena. A family can bring a toddler for a gentle session. An experienced rider can head out on a countryside trek along the lanes and fields below the mountain, or — the one people remember — a beach ride, walking a horse out onto the open sand of the north coast with the sea beside them and the cliffs and Mussenden Temple in view. There are adult lessons, private one-to-one sessions, birthday parties and group days too.
Crindle also makes a real effort to be for everyone. The autism-friendly sensory sessions and toddler sessions mean riders who might find a busy, noisy environment hard can come to a calmer, tailored one, matched with a steady horse and given time. That inclusive streak, set against one of the loveliest coastlines in the country, is what makes a session here feel less like a lesson and more like a proper day out — the kind you'll be glad you made the time for.
