What it was - and what we can't confirm

The bowling here ran 10 lanes and was a genuine family fixture in Lurgan for decades, with children's birthday parties a regular thing. Bowling alleys of this kind normally hire out shoes and put bumpers, ramps and lightweight balls out for little ones, but we cannot confirm those specifics for this venue as it stands today. What we can say from sources is that the alley closed during the pandemic and the complex was sold in early 2023. We have not found a confirmed reopening date for the lanes. If you want to bowl, contact the venue first.

The story

About the venue

The bowling alley at Centrepoint first opened in 1988 and was the original draw when the Lurgan leisure complex launched, pulling visitors in from across the region through its 1980s and 1990s heyday. Over the years the wider complex also held a bar, a nightclub and a four-screen cinema, most of which have since closed.

The bowling alley closed during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the complex was bought over in early 2023 after its long-time owner retired. The new proprietor has spoken about making Centrepoint bigger and better with a refurbishment, but at the time of writing we have not found a confirmed source showing the tenpin lanes are back open for casual bowling.
